Up Mt. Washington

[another in the trip west series]

Yesterday I drove
our white rental car
up heavily sanded roads
to Raven Lodge
the Nordic Centre
near the peak.
It was not scary
except for thinking about it:
a far away giant
standing staunchly
in the clouds
filling the side of the sky
is intimidating
magnificent
huge.
We wash Washington splashes
off, appropriately, today.
