Midnight panic

Wake up gasping:
there’s a hairball lodged
in your chest:

mendacity entices lemmings
to shopping malls to shop
instead of jump;
it calms cave instincts:
shopping instead of fighting
eating instead of loving
playing instead of doing
spraying instead of scrubbing
enjoying instead of listening
hyping instead of living

outside the mall, pavement:
away from the musak, plastic:
outside love, landfill:
listen to what’s left
and what will survive
endure, prevail.

On Luna or Mars
What is sound?
