Night Wall

I rock side to side
Then forward
Sitting on the edge of the bed
Behind me the wall
Of your insulated breath
You are sealed away by sleep
I sit alone in the dark
Wanting your comforting
Rationality, panicking
In the pains that beset me
Seeking the elusive comfort
Of my guides and mentors
The probing electricity of relief
Not finding itor unwittingly
Dodging it

Across the river
Roars a night train, probing its
Singularity:
A beginning
A middle
An end

I seek solace in pills
Gravol Lorazepam gulped
I wait

My cat visits puzzled
I wait
endure
relax
Sleep.
