Si difficile

Just in passing:
The nurse who has turned off
The air conditioner
(cold conditioner, my grandson calls it)
So she can hear my pulse
While she takes my blood pressure
Just in passing she says
“Mumble difficile”
“Pardon?” I say
“They’re testing you for
C. difficile” she says.
“Oh,” say I.
O, say I.
