other

tinkle
sound of a back alley
something somebody missed
and did not want to happen
suddenly another hand
joined the one clapping
and made a noise

tinkle
a little sound that
somebody heard
turned the head
slightly
an inclination
of the cerebrum
a chance to listen to the
silence for just a second
to pay attention to

tinkle
just one instant
recorded as if
it had not really happened
but did
a butterfly’s kiss
in the middle of
a dream of a field
of daisies

tinkle
like a bat that
flickered just
out of the
field
of vision
a little whisper of
perhaps a ghost
a grey nothing
twitching
in a cobweb

tinkle
is that you Harriet
when Harriet
has been dead for a year
dead and cremated
and buried
so if it’s Harriet
it’s really just
dust
drifting in a corner

tinkle
don’t wake up
you don’t want to know
just let it go
just so
was that it
again
no
