Interlude

I burped in mid kiss
couldn’t help it
tektonic plates slide
it just came up
moved the edges
of our galaxies together
in laughter

On the news
behind us
seventeen
alleged terrorists
arrested
more to come
to storm Parliament
behead the PM
hold members hostage
blow up the Broadcast Centre
homegrown
that’s the wonder
it can happen here
some juveniles
some Canadian adults
ready to act

So where were we
was it tonsils we were going for
or something external
something softer
lips for a start
tongues
an explosion of sorts a
blowing my head off
kind of event
all perfectly legal
encouraged in fact
by both parties
