The crowd at Murphy’s Inn
was huge and celtic
meaning every generation was represented
little kids, grannies, poppas
guys in plaid shirts and muscles
babes in little string-held tanktops
with lots of wild hair and ‘tude
and the preliminary solo act
was just finishing up
and they were diluting the lights
so the place was dark and rainbowed
and the emcee was winding us up
and I was standing in a too-warm
leather jacket and brandishing
a half-full bottle of
Sleeman’s Genuine Draft ™
and jammed standing against the bar
beside an extreme blonde chick
who was hugging everybody but me
and I was just beginning to wonder
how far down the eaglewing tats
that disappeared into her tanktop
went
when I noticed a little kid
spinning around the dance floor
in the changing colored light
having a whale of a time
and as the band struck up and blew us away
with its wall of sound that ran the gamut
back and forth between celtic rock and klesmer
I watched the kid
maybe four years old
flying over Scotland.

"(Visited N times)" -- Started Jan 5, 2010If you click "Add to Favourites", the software sets a cookie on your device. This cookie is quite harmless; however, it saves a list of your favourite posts on this site. Up to 99 of your favourites will appear on your computer only, in the list to the right, on the device that has the cookie. Note that favourites saved on one device will not be favourites on others, and that clearing your cookies will clear that particular device's list.
I am not sure about this, but the favourites list should work, even if you are not a subscriber. I know that it does work for subscribers.
